Caring for a parent in their last days; should be beautiful with a peacful ending

Taking care of your ill parent should never result in losing everything you've ever worked for; some things yes; but not everything. I pray there is some one out there willing to help. A Alzheimer’s patient father needed care just as a baby needed 24 hour care. With honors I assumed my position and 9 years we challenged that mean disease, until he was called home. Together my disability income and fathers Social Security income made it possible to make ends meet; after his passing it was my income alone. I’m now $3,500.00 behind on taxes and have a balance of $9,000.00 owed on my trailer.  I pray there is someone willing to donate anything to help. There other concerns but; I want to insure I have shelter

Hi msgg17,

What a great son to help your father through such a difficult disease.

Sorry about your financial difficulties. Not a very nice reward for all your hard work.

You may want to consider some legal advice for handling your back taxes and mortgage balance. Legal Hotline for Texas provides free legal advice and referrals. Their primary focus is service to low income Texans. They can be contacted at 1-800-622-2520.

If you are a veteran with limited income and need help with Activities of Daily Living, you may qualify for a little known benefit, Aid and Attendance Pension, which can provide a monthly income up to $1,519 per month to a veteran (As of 1/01/07). You can find information free of charge at www.veteranaid.org. They identify the eligibility requirements and application process.

Hope this is helpful.

God Bless,

Pat McMann
